Freddie Mercury loved musical theatre and incorporated aspects of it into his work. Mercury liked the ‘cabaret-ish sort of thing’. He said, ‘one of my early inspirations came from cabaret’.  He said that he ‘adored Liza Minelli’. He also loved ‘the choreography fluid sexuality and atmosphere of total excess.

The arts matter because they are like a gift from one soul to another whether it’s a joyful simple gift like a child's drawing or a play or a novel that makes you think and hurt and wish and feel, the arts help us understand ourselves and each other’- Carrie Holbo, arts specialist.

Gathering anecdotal evidence.

What was the first performance which you were a part of? - what role did you play and how did you feel during it? What age?

What is your favorite performance you have been a part of and why?

Do you enjoy watching or performing more and why?

What made you want to be a part of the performing arts Industry?

What makes you proud to be part of the performing arts industry?

If there was a different job in the performing arts industry, different to the one you have now, what would it be and why?

After this interview with my drama teacher, I have anecdotal evidence that performing arts has benefitted their own career and where they are today.
